Trauma Counselling

Trauma Definition: Trauma is the result of an overwhelming event or events that causes an inexplicable amount of stress that exceeds the ability of a person to cope and/or integrate the emotions that accompanied that specific event. We are who we are and do what we do with the awareness we are gifted with each moment in time. Sometimes it is a lot, sometimes it is none. Our coping mechanisms depend on which stage of life we are in. And those mechanisms were shaped by our traumas to begin with. What experiences have brought on your patterns? Which profound life experiences have impacted your life greatly thus far? There is nothing more beautiful than understanding and making sense of why we behave in the ways that we do and the knowledge that comes with exploration of the past about who we are and who we can become. Human resilience is quite spectacular and the concept of post traumatic growth is real and achievable. Eventually we have the capacity and ability to become authors of our own life and rewrite our stories by understanding neuroplasticity and creating corrective experiences for ourselves. We have the power to shape the experience we want with whatever it is the universe has given to us. When we are unaware of what it is that we do need in order to live a fulfilling life, we will unconsciously try and satisfy them. So even if we have goals, we won’t be able to get to them as we will be sidetracked by those unmet needs. Let us teach you the importance of awareness of needs and addressing them because those needs are what drive our choices in life.
